Pictures of My Bedroom

So I finally arranged my bedroom in a way that definitely works for me. I still need to paint the walls because they're an ucky white, but I think that I can probably convince my landlord to pay for the paint here sometime soon. Anyway. For anyone who cares, my room has been a mess and utterly unusable because of its ugly factor for the last month and a half. In fact, I have just been sleeping in the living room because the living room was much more beautiful, and I can only sleep peacefully in beautiful places. I couldn't think of anything to do with my bedroom. First of all, I only have three usable walls in my room. First, there is an entrance to my room from the kitchen. Then, the bathroom is connected to my room as well. Then, The Boy's room is connected to my room. So I have three doors leading into my room (not counting closet), leaving me with only one full wall and two part-walls to work with.

I didn't know how to arrange all my furniture, since I didn't want there to be a bed next to a night stand next to a dresser next to a bookshelf next to a desk. It all seemed too... ugly and imbalanced. Finally, inspiration struck during one of my classes this week, and I put my bed in the middle of the room and divided the room into "bedroom half" and "study half."

So on one side of my bed, I have my night stand and my dresser. On the other side of my bed, I have my bookshelf and desk. So here are pictures. I still need to do some arranging of the room (like hanging pictures), but this should give you a general idea.

(And please forgive the lopsidedness of the covers. Usually I make my bed more symmetrically.)

I'm sorry, but I don't know if I can forgive you for the asymmetry of your bed. I'll try.

Your room is darling. I worry that you have invited predators/spammers/weird people to read your blog, though, with your use of terms such as "bed," "bedroom," "sleep," and "symmetrically."

I have linked to your blog, by the way, and hope you'll enjoy checking out mine.

I think it looks beautiful. Does it feel nice to have that rickety bed back?

Cicada, it's fantastic! I love the cheery bed coverings. Also, your dresser rocks. Wherever did you get it?

I think it's beautiful. It looks comfy, too. You should design my bedroom. Can you work with 5 inches of space?

Miss Hass---I love you for even asking. It means that I get to brag. I made the cheery bed coverings and pillows myself with $6 worth of fabric from Walmart, $10 worth of beads, and almost $500 worth of time (if we estimate that my time is worth about $10/hr, then I'm not even that far off in saying that this whole project is worth $516). I got the little yellow pillow from DI, and I actually added two red chenille pillows to the mix yesterday (Target, for $5 each).

The dresser was totally free. I got it when I helped a friend's visiting teachee move. She needed to get rid of several items of furniture, all of which were really cool. I'll have to take pictures of the rest of my house so that you can see the other free furniture items I got, too.

Paint it up! My house is controversial due to the paint--people either love it or hate it. I painted every room but the livingroom & kitchen so far & we based the colors on the Tide detergent box! Red, Green, Blue & Orange. Its awesome! :)

RHS: How OLD is she? That is like, my DREAM room!

So you have a vote from the tween set. Go you!

My dream room has a queen-size bed.

It's soooo nice to have my rickety bed back! I notice that it's also missing a bar... did that cause you any severe back problems? Anyway. If you can believe it, the bed I had before this was way more rickety.
