According to R.E.I. Catalog...

Women are the smaller of the species.

We got that set as a wedding gift, and I just can't seem to get comfortable in mine.

I've noticed that the tallest guys seem to marry the shortest girls. That must be their target market.

I know it. And it makes me crazy. What a waste of space.

But Texmom, it's not our fault we're short! We need love too! :-)

I'd like to state here for the record that any guy taller than me (I'm 5'3) is tall enough.

He may not be smart or handsome or funny enough, though. Can't help that.

No, no, it's not anyone's fault for being short. What makes me crazy is when someone 5'1" refuses to date anyone shorter than 6', or vice versa. Sometimes those tall guys are too used to being on the basketball court and being cheered on by Dallas Roberts girls. Don't get me started.

I'd think that being known as the "smaller sex" will make a lot of women happy.

My wife says she's 5'10", but she's actually about 5'9 1/2", because we're the exact same height. When we were growing up, she'd always say that she'd never marry anyone under 6'0". She also said that she'd never go to Texas, get married before she graduated, or get pregnant before she was married for a year. I'm short, she went on a mission to Texas, she just graduated in August, and we had our 1-year anniversary three days after Jella was born.

She's pretty quiet these days.

Just kidding--she has just learned to not say anything that might merit a knock on wood.

Sigh. Insert foot in mouth. Bite down. Hard.

Texmom, I hear you.

I hate hearing short girls talk about how tall a guy needs to be. Because how can they even help that? That's like a guy saying he won't date a girl who weighs more than 100 pounds, and you can BET he would get raked over the coals for something like that. (But not by the D(n)R girls--they would probably just coo and twitter and chomp on their gum and stuff.)

I think the only height restriction to put on a potential life partner should be that the woman can't be more than 3" taller than the man.

I mean, cuz it looks wierd to see women standing behind men in the wedding photo.

PS Cicada

Thanks for the advice. I now see the error of my myrth-filled blogging ways.

I once dated a guy that was over a foot taller than I am (I'm 5'6" and he is 6'8") and it was just AWKWARD. We looked weird together, the kissing part was awkward, and my tall red-headed roommate hated me for dating someone tall. My only height requirement now is that I not be the tall one. That's all.

stupidramblings said...

Surely, miss hass, you have MORE requirements than that.

I once dated a guy who was a full foot taller than me, too, and I really liked it, actually.

Anyway. I had no idea that an image like this would inspire such a comment trail! Wow! I'm nowhere near the popularity/controversiality of Kelly, but hey. I'm getting there.

Miss Hass---

That tall red-headed roommate isn't the one I married, is it?

The first girl I seriously pursued was almost a foot shorter than me. She ended up marrying someone almost a foot taller than me.

The big problem with marrying someone almost my own height is that when she wears heels (and especially in those ole wedding photos) I gotta stand up really straight.
