In Rome, two summers ago, signs like this were posted all over:LET'S ARREST
THE
TIGER
MOSQUITO
NAME: aedes albopictus,
a.k.a. TIGER MOSQUITO
CHARACTERISTICS: Lays eggs in
little puddles of water that are
found in our gardens,
terraces and balconies.
The signs clearly indicated that those found guilty of having pools of stagnant water on their premises would be fined.
